The Brohtal Wind Orchestra in partnership with the Brohtal secondary school and assisted by Dr Eckel GmbH and other local businesses has launched an initiative which will benefit everyone: Twelve schoolchildren will be given the opportunity to learn a wind instrument free of charge.

Oleg Beljak, conductor of the wind orchestra, has offered to provide tuition. In launching this initiative the wind orchestra has laid the foundations for bringing on young musicians. At the same time, the secondary school can expand its choice of high quality afternoon activities for pupils and, with its own small wind orchestra, bring something new to future events.

Dr Antje Eckel, who played the violin and piano in her youth, demonstrated her commitment to the project by making a donation and handing over two saxophones.

“The Brohltal Wind Orchestra is very well known in the region, and very popular. I am delighted that this new initiative with the school will enable some children to learn an instrument. It's wonderful to think that by supporting young musical talent in this way, we can also secure the future of the Wind Orchestra.”
