05/09/12: wild and hatchery salmon; Norvartis sells UK plant;

While the some of the Aquaculturists are busy in Prague at the final day of AQUA 2012 (visit us at booth 65), we're back with the daily digest blog.
  • First up is news from the Cordoba Times which reports that up to 98 percent of hatchery fish could be present in wild stock streams in Prince William Sound, Alaska.  A three-year study conducted by the Alaska Department of Fish and Game found that strays were far higher than the two percent threshold currently advised by the state.  This research raises questions about the so far unexplored potential impact of interbreeding.  Read more...
