Marine Harvest fined for 2009 infraction

Marine Harvest Canada (MHC) was ordered in January to pay Can$5000 (€3,820.105), penalty for failing to reture Pacific Herring to the wild during an incident that occurred in October 2009. Marine Harvest said in a press release that they take full responsibility for the infraction,

“The charge failure to return incidentally captured Pacific herring to the place where they were taken stems from an occurrence in late 2009 when the company was transporting its fish,” stated the release. MHC has since modified their equipment to minimise further interceptions. Read more ...
